great color slides, but not a good introductory book

I thought this book had some good information in it and the color slides in the beginning part of the book were highly useful, but overall the layout of the book was very poor. This book might be useful for someone that works in a medical lab but for a beginner student it was not very useful in my opinion. I did not like how cheap-looking the book is and how it didn't have any pictures(other than the ones at the beginning, and it would have made more sense to include them in the chapters so you don't have to flip back to the front every time). All the diagrams in the individual chapters are hand-drawn and are not really that useful (you could use Google to find images more useful). I think the authors of the books are probably very knowledgeable on the subject of Medical parasitology but they probably don't have much business writing a textbook (a very cheaply made one at that).
I am all for saving money on textbooks and maybe that is the approach they were using , but at the same time I'd rather pay a hundred dollars for a book that is really well written and laid out rather than one a quarter of the price that feels like an amateurish attempt at writing a text for medical student...I know there has to be better books out there on this subject. Overall I give this book about 2.5 out of 5 stars, but here on Amazon I will give it a 3 since you cannot give half stars.
The cheap price is about all I liked about this book. The paperback format is useful in that it is easier to carry around, but I really didn't like how it was edited. Chapters in the book seemed very crammed together and the flow of the material was very poor. Everything just kind of ran together and it was hard to separate one parasite from the next. Book needs some major editing done in future revisions and then maybe they will have a text more deserving of 4 stars or higher.

More of a graphics book for instruction, it does offer some good overall detail on parasites but it does leave information to be desired. Well made and would make an awesome addition for professors or students wanting a little more insight on parasitic infections. Plus if you are a visual learner this is definitely the book for you!
