Valuable resource for holistic care

As one who has only begun the journey into understanding the complexity of caring for the whole person, this book has become for me a very valuable resource. I found the book to be very well structured, easy to read, and easy to apply to real clinical practice. As an introduction, the book does cover a wide range of topics related to the field, but does so consitently with illuminating case examples, and practical suggestions. The book has both stimulated my thinking in regards to spirituality, health, and wholeness, and has also encouraged me to apply these concepts; to find "where the rubber meets the road" for clinical ministry. I am sure this will join my many dog-eared and well-worn books treasured within my personal library.

An Inclusive Look at Iowa's History

I thoroughly enjoyed this text. It's written well and gives unique perspectives on many historical events. Instead of focusing on Iowa's history from one angle, she discusses what matters were like for women, Native Americans, and minority groups. I especially enjoyed learning what work women did as settlers and on the farm, how they were affected by wars, and the roles they took on to aid soldiers. In my opinion, this really is a superb example of what a history book should be.

excellent review of existential therapies

This is a very through and well thought out review of the current existential therapies. The author sought out current practitioners of each school to give not only a historical perspective, but a view of the current thinking. The book is rich with references. An excellent introduction to existential therapies as they are practices in the United Kingdom, the continent of Europe, and in the United States.

Thorough and brief explaination of the existential approaches to therapy

I thought this book provided a great introduction to the many schools of thought in the existential approaches to therapy. As a clinical psychology doctoral student orientating in existential psychology, I have read many other books on this topic and have found them filled with jargon and often difficult to understand. Cooper's discussion about the different existential therapies was a thorough, understandable, and quick to read. Additionally, Cooper provided strengths and criticisms of each of the approaches discussed providing a three dimensional look into the approach and the theorists involved in the existential theories of psychotherapy. I would recommend this book for those who are just beginning to explore the existential theoretical orientation as well as advanced therapy or psychology students.
